Costantine Malama is a Medical Doctor who has specialized in virology. Dr. Malama has extensive experience in Public Health, clinical and community medicine. He is technical strategy and Business Development Advisor for PATH, Southern Africa region. He has functioned as technical lead in a PPP between the Ministry of Health, First Quantum Minerals, a mining firm and Emergency Response Zambia (ERZ) a for-profit emergency Response organization, in the setting up of the first ever Pre-Hospital (Paramedic) training program for the Ministry of Health, based at Levy Mwanawasa Medical University.
He functioned as Public Health Specialist with the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), attached to the Ministry of Health, Zambia, where he functioned as an infection and outbreak control expert. He was technical lead in setting up the Zambia National Public Health Institute (ZNPHI) which hosts the Africa CDC Regional Collaboration Centre (RCC) for the southern African region. He was technical lead for the setting up of the Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) and also the technical lead for the Ministry of Health’s preparedness against the Ebola threat. He was technical lead in the setting up of mobile HIV services to hard-to-reach areas under the USAID’s Global Development Alliance, which brought together the leading Mining and Agri-business firms in the fight against the HIV/AIDS Pandemic.
He also worked as a Public Health specialist-HIV Prevention for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), where he functioned as the lead expert for HIV prevention.
